Problem: Cause: How to Fix:
When I play the Instruction or take a Test, an error message appears referring to an Xtra (QuickTime 3).

Missing QT6 Xtra
A component (Xtra) of Shockwave 10 is missing. Click here for more information and a patch.
I installed the files from the Media Support CD-ROM.
I also ran the Config program.
But the sound and video are still taking a LONG time to load.
The Config program is not compatible with Shockwave 10. Click here for an update.
When I play the Instruction or take a Test, the multimedia pop-up window shows the message exitModule() exit status=9

exit status 9
Quicktime is not installed. Click the Browser Checkup tab above.
Scroll down the page and click on the "Get Quicktime" button.
Download and install the Quicktime Player software then sign in again.
As an Instructor or Administrator, I click the link to Register a student, or to Edit or Delete a student, or certain other functions and nothing happens. Pop-up windows have been turned off in your browser.

I just installed a new version of the Shockwave software.
The next time I viewed instruction or started a test, a security warning popped up.
Is this a problem? What should I do with it?

exit status 9
This is not a problem.
It is a security measure built into Shockwave to help prevent some types of online misconduct.
The first time this security dialog appears, select Allow future access from this location by any movie.. Click the Allow button
When I play an Instruction or Test, the audio seems to cutoff or clips the last few words. This problem can surface due to numerous factors. To fix this problem you must reduce Hardware Acceleration or set to None.

Windows 98/ME:
From the Control Panel, click on Multimedia => Audio tab => Playback => Advanced Properties => Performance => Hardware Acceleration. Move the slider to the left or set to None.

Windows 2000:
From the Control Panel, click on Sounds and Multimedia => Audio tab => under Sound Playback, click Advanced button => Performance tab. Move the slider to the left or set to None.

Windows XP:
From the Control Panel, click on Sounds and Audio Devices => Audio tab => Advanced button => Performance tab. Move the slider to the left or set to None.

The Instruction or Test is Frozen and does not Play. This problem is usually the result of either the Temporary Internet files becoming too full, there is a missing or corrupted multimedia file, or you are using an outdated version of the Multimedia Support CD-ROM. To delete or clear your Temporary Internet files follow these instructions.

If you are using the Multimedia Support CD-ROM and you suspect that one of the file is either missing or corrupted, use the CD-ROM to reinstall the multimedia files to your computer.

If you are using the Multimedia Support CD-ROM version 3.4, but the files are out of date, you can either contact MasterTask to receive an new CD-ROM or you can download and install a small application that will update the multimedia files on your computer to the latest version.
